Can the placebo effect work for relieving insomnia?
Insomnia i’m facing:
I realize that placebos can help people with colds, allergies and even pain, but can placebos also help induce sleep? The doctor said it is ok if I want to give a chronic insomniac, elderly, bed-ridden relative of mine some placebo pills since she can’t take any real sleeping pills. But do placebos really work for sleep?

placebos are nothing but sugar pills they have no medication in them whatsoever. the effects of placebos are strictly psychological. you can give them to her and see if they work they obviously wont do any harm. i imagine that placebos can work for anything though. as long as the person thinks shes getting real medicine it might work.
good luck
